Summer is here everyone! and for us summertime means skirts!! Our tie skirts seem to be a hot commodity right now and we don't blame you for grabbing them up. Who wants to wear the same old skirts they wore last year? Or the skirts that you find in department stores that everyone else has?
NOT US!

So we are here to remind you that not only are our tie skirts at our store but we are working up some other lovely ideas so you all can show off those legs this summer! So click on over to our etsy store or visit our webpage for items of the past.

This n' That

Howdy LabelMe fans, we haven't posted in a while and hopefully you will accept our lame excuse: we have been uber busy with school!! But in our spare time we have been honing our business skills and deciding which direction we want to go with our little business. Our concentration has mostly been related to ways we can create fun, sustainable clothing and accessories that are eco-friendly. That being said, with summer approaching, we have a renewed interest in screen printing and have come up with a few more ideas involving favorite song lyrics. We just have these up as examples and depending on your responses, will make the screens for those of which have the most positive responses. We also want to use this opportunity to stress that we do CUSTOM screen prints, so if there is any idea you have had or a catchy phrase, we would love to put it on a shirt for you!!

Random Printing Ideas

So it's been a long time since we last posted, but we ARE still around. Molly and I recently got very very hooked on the tv show Heroes! So we've decided to make shirts for ourselves from one of the more popular quotes from the tv show.

Anyone who watches the show will understand :D And if you don't....well you should! ;)

Our new home

Stress and moving are synonymous. But it is now officially over! Molly and myself have made the move up to Corvallis. We will both be Oregon State students this Fall!! Woo

Because of this move we have been MIA on etsy and here on our blog. I am here to let you know that we will be listing again and posting here more often very very soon.

Were having loads and loads of fun emptying our wallets to decorate our new place. With Earthy gold tones teals and purples our house is starting to look marvelous! I gave the sewing machine a long overdue session last night making fabulous curtains for my room and molly has been painstakingly hanging up her 12 trash bags full of clothing ;)

Were movers and shakers and despite the stress and expense of moving were prepared to do it again. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. But anyhow I just wanted to get on here and thank all of you for visiting us and supporting Label Me and we'll be seeing more of you!

I've been slacking with my posts, but here I am! And I come with great news. :)
Looks like Label Me is going to be spreading the love in Bend, OR AND in Seattle, WA! They are two local funky consignment stores who invited us to have our items in their store's!

Roots Festival Follow-Up

Just wanted to take the time to thank all of you who visited us at The Roots Festival at PSU! It was a fun show. If you were in the area and wanted to see us again we will be returning to Portland on June 9th for the PDX Etsy craft Fair! Its going to be a really great event so make sure you stop by and see us! the event will be at PSU as well!

We were invited to attend Craftywonderland! We are both so excited! We are sewing like crazy to prepare! The event will take place on mothers day so we think it's going to be a great turnout! (we hope anyway!)

Scholastic Science World!

Never have we been more excited! One of our Tie skirts has been featured in a magazine! We just received our copies of the magazine yesterday and we couldnt be more pleased with the result. We were chosen to be a part of Science Worlds article for "recycled fashion" for their Earth Day issue.

We do have quite a few other items that are recycle friendly but, It makes sense to have one of our tie skirts in our first major appearance. Our tie skirts were the very thing that got us started on this journey of ours in 2003. :D Our first project together gets recognized first. :) we are so proud.

We have already gotten many emails and conversations about the magazine which is a major bonus we didnt expect. Anyway, just wanted to share our pride and joy. Click on the image to read the article Cody included on us! :D

Review: Sparksfly

Up for review is an incredibly original artist.Sparksfly You can tell she really pushes her imagination to new levels with some of her creative work. From beautiful photography, matchbook journals to customized promotion items for your store! We too hope some of her ideas take off! LM: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
SF: I am a 25 stay at home mommy/wife. I have a sweet 2 1/2 year old daughter currently going through the "terrible twos"!! And an almost perfect husband. I enjoy being creative, I am always taking on new projects and etsy has been my creative outlet.

LM: When did you first start making what you sell?
SF: I received my first camera when I was 9. Of course, the pictures I got back from the developer were less then desirable...:) Almost all my Art is photograph inspired, but it also has a scrapbook twist to it, another hobby I thouroughly enjoy. Its been a while, but I also have several pencil drawings I drew in my teen years. I even had them in a local gallery with success. I focused mainly on horses, and old weathered cars. I have been meaning to pull some out and list them in my store. I still might end up doing that.

LM: What inspires you?
SF: Everything! Completely out of the blue something will trigger an idea for a new product. My favorite sources of inspiration though would have to be; scrapbook paper, a fresh box of crayons, paint chips, decortaing magazines, and chipboard. I love blank customizable chipboard. It has been a favorite medium of mine as of late.

LM: What are your goals/aspirations here on etsy?
SF: To continue to meet new awesome people. I would also like to see at least one of my forms of ART to stick. Currently, I am experimenting with alot of different Forms of Art. All of which I enjoy. It has been fun, but I would love one of them to "take off..." :)

LM: If you were any craft tool what would you be?
SF: I would say maybe a paper cutter... they are extremely sharp; very useful, some are very snazzy looking, and they get to work with extremely bright colorful people...err...paper. :)

LM: Any last words?

Looking around on the etsy forums out of pure boredom and read someones reply about this new amazing site! Paper-Source. It may not be new to everyone else but for those of you who LooooVE paper and other knick knacks of that sort and havent visited, you simply must check it out!

Up for review this time is a great Jewelry maker! Brandi is the owner of the etsy shop Enthral Brandi takes fun vintage peices and creates a work of art. LM: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
E: I am a Music Teacher, a mom, a wife, and a craft addict. In addition to my craft addiction, I enjoy camping, hiking, and reading.

LM: When did you first start making what you sell?
E: I guess I started sewing and making jewelry over the last summer, then when my house began to overflow with stuff, decided to open up shop on etsy.

LM: What inspires you?
E: Any kind of buttons and beads, but my favorite are vintage glass buttons. They are like little works of art with history.

LM: What are your goals/aspirations here on etsy?
E:My goals are to reach 100 sales by the end of this year. That makes 70 more to go. I figure that will help pay for materials to make more stuff, and give me a little cash on the side, though not much!

LM: If you were any craft tool what would you be?
E: A pair of needle nose pliars because I have a big mouth and a pointy nose. LOL!

Review: Moomees

The variety of items on etsy is another great thing about the site. Check out Moomees! These adorable little creatures (amigurumis) are all hand crocheted! And with some inspiration coming from Tim Burton (one of our favorites) it's no wonder we love these little guys!

LM: Tell us a little about yourself.

M: When kids in my elementary classes wanted to play sports or other games throughout recess, all I wanted to do was sit in the classroom and doodle with crayons, finger-paint, or sculpt with playdo. I knew from a very young age that I had a knack for creating things. Almost everybody in my immediate family has an artistic talent, and I suppose it's in the genes. lol.

The greatest reward that I get from designing an artwork, whether it be paper art, crochet, poetry, or drawing, is that I can look at my work and be happy with the result. As many artists do, I will tear apart any workmanship that I have created if I am not completely satisfied with the end result. It is this creative process that is a two-edged sword, in my opinion. It is the only way that I can achieve my own expectations.

LM: When did you first start making Moomees?

M: I began making amigurumis a little over a year ago while I was away in university. Most people may agree that university can be stressful, so I crocheted dolls to relieve my stress. That is how I started out. Interestingly, I was able to produce a great amount of work even though I was stressed out with exams and studying unfamiliar concepts. Maybe crocheting was a way to channel all that stress into making something beautiful.

LM: What inspires you?

M: Other artists inspire me. I think it's important to stand back and appreciate other artists who invest their time to create something that others would enjoy, or question. A few of my favourite artists are Tim Burton, James C. Christensen, Scott Gustaffson, and Walt Disney. I also reflect on positive childhood experiences, toys, and stories.

LM: What are your goals/aspirations here on Etsy?

M: My goal is to make something unique for others to see on Etsy. I don't have any sales quota or financial goals. I just want to do something that I enjoy and share it with people who appreciate my work.

LM: If you were any craft tool what would you be?

M: I think I'd be a spinning wheel. I think the sound of a spinning wheel is very relaxing, and I like to be in a relaxed state of mind as much as possible.

LM: Any last words?

M: Do what you love. :)

These are our newest adition to the family. Our peach folders that are hand screened with original images straight from our head! :D If you gotta go to school, then you should go in style. Thats our motto anyway ;)

Review: Sparkle-Rama

Its amazing all of the interesting items you run across while searching through etsy. There are vast amounts of talented artists out there and today....its Mels turn in the spotlight! Better known on Etsy as Sparkle-Rama She sells a variety of great handmade items and Im here today to share this mini interview with you and to invite you to vist her etsy store...here And also take a look at just a sample of some of the items available in her store now!

LM: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
SR: I'm a housewife, but have worked in many different fields...I've been a funeral director (went to mortuary college and everything!), a hairdresser, and even a telemarketer (but only for 45 minutes! Yuck!). I love lots of different arts and crafts...so long as I am creating, I am happy!

LM: When did you first start making what you sell?
SR: I have been "creating" as long as I can remember. I remember going door to door selling my "creations" in the fourth grade! As a kid I would direct plays i wrote...I'd make the costumes, write the lines, act, direct-I did it all! I always loved drawing and painting...once my dad came home from fishing and we got out some paint, dipped the worms in the paint and let 'em loos on paper-voila! instant art!

LM: What inspires you?
SR: I am inspired by all sorts of things. It varies day to day, minute to minute! Inspiration is everywhere!

LM: What are your goals/aspirations here on etsy?
SR: My goal on Etsy really is just to share my work with the rest of the world...I love everything I make, but I can't keep it all....my husband would go nuts!

LM: If you were any craft tool what would you be?
SR: If I were a craft tool i would probably be a pen...because most of my creations start out as a rough sketch in my notepad!

LM: Any last words?
SR: I love sharing my creations with people and am so pleased at the wonderful reception I've recieved at Etsy!

I spent all of today colorizing and going through all of our fabric....What can I say, i work at Joann Fabrics ;) This isnt even the half of it either....I think were good on fabric for a while. But....you all know how that goes. hehe
Orginization and visually appealing. Im trying trying to get our little studio in tip top shape. :D
